Frequently Asked Questions

When will the project be complete?

The SR 273 and I-95 interchange improvements project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022.

What is the project cost?

$11.8 million

Why is SR 273 reduced to one travel lane over the I-95 bridge?

Westbound SR 273 will be reduced to a single travel lane during Phase 2A of construction to complete the necessary bridge repairs to the outside lanes and shoulder of the bridge. This lane reduction is to ensure safety of both the motorists and the contractor, increase the contractor’s production and to reduce the overall project cost and duration. Two travel lanes on Westbound SR 273 will be maintained during all other phases of construction.

Why are the SR 273 and I-95 ramps closed?

Only one ramp will be closed at any one time. The ramps are closed to reconstruct the pavement and replace curb and guardrail to meet current safety standards. There is not enough existing pavement width available to maintain traffic while these repairs are completed.

What are the detour routes when these ramps are closed?

View the Detour Information page for closures, restrictions, and alternate routes during ramp closures.
