TRAFFIC ALERT – New Castle County – Nighttime Closures of I-95 for Overhead Sign Work Starting Monday, January 23rd
Christiana — The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that I-95 northbound and southbound will be closed between the Route 1 and Route 273 interchanges. The closures will be necessary for the installation of new overhead sign structures. All work will occur between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am for the following anticipated dates starting the week of January 23, 2023:
- Monday through Thursday, January 23rd to 26th, I-95 will be closed northbound and southbound between the Route 1 and Route 273 interchange.
- Friday and Monday, January 27th and 30th, only Southbound I-95 will be closed at the Route 1 interchange.
This work is weather dependent and closure dates may be adjusted if work is canceled. Motorists should use caution and expect minor delays moving through the area.
Detours:
I-95 Southbound
Motorists will be directed to southbound Route 1, to westbound Route 273, and back to southbound I-95
I-95 Northbound (Monday January 23rd only)
Motorists will be directed to Exit 4A southbound Route 1/7, to Route 7 Exit 164B, and back to northbound I-95.
I-95 Northbound (Tuesday through Thursday January 24rd through 26th)
Motorists will be directed to eastbound Route 273, to northbound Route 1, and back to northbound I-95.
